In a message posted on Friday morning on Twitter, Archbishop Elpidophoros, the leader of all the Greek Orthodox faithful of the Americas, sent his condolences and prayers to all those who hav been impacted by the earthquake that struck both Greece and Turkey.
The Archbishop, who was born in Turkey, stated in the message that “Our prayers are with all those affected by the earthquake that struck both Greece and Turkey, especially Samos and Izmir. Natural disasters remind us that we are all human beings, and the suffering of one is the suffering of us all.
“May God grant mercy, comfort, and relief to all.”
