Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the President of the Hellenic Republic, spoke on the telephone with Archbishop Elpidophoros on Thursday, during which she expressed her support to the Greek American community during this difficult time of the global pandemic.

According to a statement issued by the Greek Presidency, the Archbishop thanked the President for her solidarity and discussed the actions he is taking to help the faithful in these difficult days.

President Sakellaropoulou emphasized the fact that Archbishop Elpidophoros is already using new technologies to keep in contact with the Greek Orthodox community through several social media platforms.

Sakellaropoulou herself is a fan of utilizing direct communication through social media, since she created the first official Facebook and Twitter pages for the office of the Greek Presidency a few weeks ago.

According to the Greek President’s office, Sakellaropoulou also conveyed her wishes to all expatriates living abroad just before Holy Week and Easter, the greatest celebration of the year for all Christians.
