Grecian Delight, one of the leading marketers and manufacturers of Greek and Mediterranean foods globally, announced on Friday a massive donation of food to several charitable organizations, as a COVID-19 relief effort.

More specifically, Grecian Delight donated an astonishing 11,340kg (25,000 lbs) of food to the Salvation Army, the Operation Blessing International as well as to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The food will be distributed to food pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the surrounding Chicagoland area as well as throughout the US.

The aim of the donation is to help facilitate hunger relief efforts stemming from the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Peter Parthenis, Jr., President and CEO of Grecian Delight noted that “Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those who have been affected by this worldwide crisis. At Grecian Delight, we care deeply for people and feel we have an inherent responsibility to provide essential food and supplies.”

The food that was donated included Grecian Delight’s flatbreads, speciality meats, sauces and plant-based proteins to help those in most need during these moments of crisis.

However, the family of Grecian Delight does not intend to stop here.

“It is a long-standing tradition of the Parthenis family to help those in their time of need. We are fully committed to extending relief efforts to local charities during this crisis,” Parthenis stated, as the company and its people plan to continue donating to the community during the pandemic and beyond

The message of Grecian Delight, as this was delivered by Parthenis, was simple yet meaningful: “We want to give back to the community that has given us so much support over the years.”

Grecian Delight has a history of forty-six years in Illinois.

Founded in 1974 by the Parthenis Family, it is a leading provider of authentic Mediterranean foods, including gyros and speciality meats, pitas and flatbreads, tzatziki, hummus and spreads, falafel and specialities and plant-based proteins.
