KPS Capital Partners Co-Founder and Managing Partner Michael Psaros has spoken about how the Greek word filotimo has shaped his business career.
In a video to honor Psaros as a noted graduate of Georgetown University, the Greek-American investor says:
“I like to think of ourselves as doing business with filotimo.
“Filotimo is the most powerful of all Greek words. It’s a combination of honor and of always trying to do the right thing.”
Psaros is a well-respected figure on Wall Street who believes in creating jobs and working with unions to keep employees happy.
In an exclusive interview with the Greek Reporter in 2015, he had claimed that “a profitable employer is the employees’ best friend,” adding that unions are not a problem for an employer as long as there are “clear laws to enforce contracts”.
KPS Capital Partners, LP is the manager of KPS Special Situations Funds, a family of private equity funds with approximately $5.2 billion of assets under management focused on making controlling equity investments in companies across a diverse range of manufacturing industries globally.
