NY Mayor Selects Greek American as City Judge

Greek-American lawyer Michael J. Hartofilis has been selected by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio as judge of the New York City Civil Court.

The swearing-in ceremony took place after a public hearing held at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, regarding eight new judges.

The new judges will attend a training program through Friday, March 2, and on Monday, March 5 they will officially assume their duties in one of the five New York City Civil Courts.

Michael J. Hartofilis, 58, hails from Nisyros and his wife Maria Hartofilis from Andros. They are both lawyers, and Michael J. Hartofilis is president of the Hellenic Lawyers Association.
