Kentucky Governor Campaign Returns Donation Received from Former Trump Adviser George Papadopoulos

The Kentucky Governor campaign returned a donation it received from former Donald Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty in October to lying to the FBI, according to the Louisville Courier Journal.

A finance report filed by Matt Bevin’s 2015 campaign committee for governor, lists a donation of 250 dollars on April 30 from Papadopoulos, of Chicago, a self-employed “consultant.”

However, the same report later lists a negative 250-dollar entry for Papadopoulos on October 31, and a net contribution from him to the Bevin campaign of zero.

Greek American Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to making false statements regarding his links with foreign nationals who had close connections to Russian officials. His guilty plea was unsealed on October 30.

According to the Louisville Courier Journal report, the governor’s communications staff had not returned telephone and email requests to comment on the annual finance report of his gubernatorial campaign.
