Chris Alahouzos , Greek-born Mayor of Tarpon Springs, Florida, spoke on Greek television on Sunday, describing the catastrophic passing of Hurricane Irma through the region.
The mayor spoke on Skai television during the raging hurricane, saying that the area was tested by its destructive force. Thousands of Diaspora Greeks live in the wider area.
“The hurricane hit us hard and its force is very dangerous. It may have subsided to a category “2”, but it remains dangerous,” Alahouzos said, and noted that the extreme weather effect would keep up for another three hours.
