In a nerve-breaking election the American people have voted and elected Donald Trump the 45th President of the United States.
Trump won some of the key states such as Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, gathering 289 electoral votes against the 218 Hillary Clinton won, with 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.
“I pledge I will be president for all Americans and this is so important to me,” said president-elect Donald Trump speaking at his campaign headquarters, after his victory was confirmed.
“For those who have not supported me, I reach out to you so we can unite the country. Ours was not a campaign but rather an incredible movement.”
Secretary Hillary Clinton called the Republican candidate to congratulate him in the first hours of Tuesday morning.
Trump, a major outsider for the election managed to upset the Republican party by winning the primaries and he did it again winning the general election.
Speaking at the Trump headquarters, the Republican vice presidential mate Mike Pence said:
“The American people have spoken, America has elected a new President.”
