2016 LA Greek Fest Unites Californians With Food and Dance

greek fest AZ PhxThe 2016 LA Greek Fest took place earlier this month from October 7 to October 9 at Saint Sophia Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles. It was the 18th year of the annual festival, which has become the biggest Greek cultural event in all of southern California.

Visitors may have been surprised to find that plenty of people in attendance were actually non-Greeks; according to those who run the festival’s food stands and organize the event, many Californians enjoy Greek food and music so much that they actually stop by the Greek Fest almost every year.

Guests were treated to live music performed by a Greek band as well as young Greeks dancing to traditional songs. Endless food stalls served authentic cuisine such as souvlakia and loukoumades throughout the day and night.

We were on site to report live from Greek Fest, so you can get an insight into how one of your favorite Greek delicacies — loukoumades — are made:

If you find yourself in Los Angeles next October, head down to the Byzantine-Latino quarter of Los Angeles and enjoy the uplifting, happy atmosphere at LA Greek Fest!
