Young Greek Expats from Boston Organize Event to Help Greece

-δρακούλης-e1464891370649-620x300The Hellenic Initiative New Leaders are organizing the THI New Leaders Boston Event on June 6 to raise funds for the Prolepsis/Diatrofi project.

The charity project (http://diatrofi.prolepsis.gr) raises funds for providing school meals throughout Greece. THI New Leaders is an international group of like-minded young leaders who share in THI’s vision of funding crisis relief programs, encouraging entrepreneurs and creating jobs for Greece and Greeks.

Established in 2016, THI’s New Leaders are donating their time, skills and expertise in helping to build a better future for Greece.

The Boston effort is led by Drakoulis Behrakis, a young Greek-American graduate of Boston College, in Boston who is now a prominent real estate businessman based in Lexington, Massachusetts. He is the son of well-known philanthropists George and Margo Behrakis.

Behrakis, who speaks fluent Greek, spoke to The National Herald about “the opportunity to learn more about the THI organization and to create a core and an understanding of what we can do here locally in a reception specifically organized for younger Greek American professionals of Boston in order to see how to contribute to the mission and objectives of the Organization.”

The young businessman said that the event aims to attract as many young professionals from all fields. “We love Greece and we want to help in every way,” he said. It will not be a formal dinner but more of a cocktail party so that people will have a chance to talk to each other.

The event will take place on Monday, June 6, at Committee restaurant in the Boston harbor area. The contribution for participation is set at $250 for founding members and $100 for new members. All proceeds will go to the Prolepsis/Diatrofi fund.
