Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce Annual Dance Gala to Take Place Oct. 16

The 67th Annual Dinner Dance of the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to support the Greek economic crisis, will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, at the Pierre Hotel in New York.

This year the Person of the Year Award will be presented to Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President & Member of the Board of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is an international philanthropic organization, which was established by Dracopoulos’s great-uncle, the late Stavros Niarchos.

In addition to his leadership of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Dracopoulos contributes his time to many worthy endeavors. He serves on the Boards of; Rockefeller University, the Dalton School in NYC, the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the International Council of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. and Johns Hopkins University.

He is also an Honorary Trustee of the New York Public Library (NYPL), where he served as a Trustee from 2003 to 2010. In June 2012, the NYPL honored him for his contributions to the library’s educational programs.

Dracopoulos and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation have been longtime friends of the Hellenic American Chamber, having been among the first supporters of the Chamber’s New York City Greek Film Festival.

The Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce will donate all net proceeds to philanthropic organizations such as the Hellenic Relief Fund, dedicate their time to providing support for the Greek population, suffering during the present economic crisis.

A Souvenir Journal to commemorate the evening will be published. The Journal will be distributed to all guests who attend the Dinner Dance, as well as to other members and friends in the United States, Greece and other parts of the world. Past contributors have found the Journal to be an effective outlet for greetings and an elegant way to extend their best wishes to the Honoree.
