On Friday, November 7, at 8:30pm, AKTINA has organized a memorable musical tribute to world renowned Greek composer and Oscar winner Manos Hadjidakis (Never on Sunday) with the participation of popular singer from Greece Giannis Savvidakis. The event is scheduled to take place at KAYE PLAYHOUSE in Manhattan.
Celebrating its 21st anniversary on the airwaves of WNYE 91.5FM this year, the Greek-American public service radio show is sponsored by AKTINA Productions, Inc., a non-profit and tax-exempt cultural organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the rich heritage, folklore and culture of Greece and Cyprus in America.
Savvidakis is a multi-talented artist (singer, songwriter, composer and actor) with an amazing career spanning over 25 years that includes countless hit songs, many platinum albums, concerts and lead roles as an actor in top-rated Greek TV series.
In 2014, Savvidakis further verified his amazing talent as a singer and actor with his participation in the Greek television series “Your Face Sounds Familiar.” In the series, participating artists were required to transform themselves into specific characters of world music and interpret songs just like the character they portray. During each contest, judges and audience at home were voting for the winner. Apart from his final victory, Savvidakis also won several other contests during the course of the series. His upcoming performance in New York is not to be missed.
