Heaven and Earth: Art of Byzantium from Greek Collections presents 63 superb artworks from the early Christian and Byzantine eras in the Mary and Michael Jaharis Galleries of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Art. The exhibition was organized in the USA by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with Benaki Museum, and in association with the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

According to the Greek Ministry of Culture, the exhibition was visited by 2719 people, while Jenny Albani and Anastasia Drandaki gave lectures in the museum’s Fulerton Hall.

The Art Institute is the third and final stop of this exhibition, after the National Gallery of Washington (October to March 2014) and Villa Ghetto (Getty) in Malibu, Los Angeles (April-August 2014).

The exhibition at the Art Institute will run until February 15, 2015.
