Readers of the American website US News chose the Greek island of Santorini as the top destination for a honeymoon. In a recent competition held by the website, the beautiful Greek island came first, beating other exotic destinations such as Maui and Maldives.
Santorini was voted as the top honeymoon destination for the third consecutive year. About 83% of the website users voted for Santorini.
“Known for its brilliant sunsets, rich Greek food and romantic hotels, Santorini is almost tailor-made for those who’ve just said “I do.” Honeymooners can lounge on red and black sand beaches or visit the island’s wineries,” says the website which states that the Greek island is also popular among European honeymooners.
Santorini with its crystal clear waters, endless beaches, the stunning sunset, the white houses and the delicious local cuisine, deservedly won the first place in the competition.
The island of Crete, southern Greece was ranked fifth in the competition for the top honeymoon destinations.
