Diaspora Members Help Greek People in Need

hellenic_relief_foundation_1The Greek-American Hellenic Relief Foundation continues to collect and distribute food, medicine and other essentials to vulnerable social groups in Greece.

According to the Foundation’s statements, in May and June 2014 they distributed 720 relief packages to families in Athens, Thessaloniki, Spetses and Kalyvia. Meanwhile, next Sunday, August 2, they will also make a distribution of help packages in the region of Gytheio in Laconia.

The distributions will be attended by the Foundation’s board from New York.

The Hellenic Relief Foundation was founded in January 2012 with the aim of raising money in the U.S. for the purchase and distribution of food and relief packages for people in need, in Greece. As of this moment the foundation has raised 200,000 dollars with which it purchased and distributed almost 135 tons of food to 12,000 Greek families.

During a recent board meeting, the Hellenic Relief Foundation has elected a new member, Greek expatriate entrepreneur Anastasios Philippakos.
