Just weeks before gearing up to prepare for the World Cup, USA team player Kyle Beckerman was getting ready for another important moment in his life: marrying the lovely Greek-American Kate Pappas.
The couple, who met in 2009 on a video shoot as Pappas held cue cards for Beckerman, locked eyes and never looked back. They were engaged last year and tied the knot just a few months ago at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ceremony and reception called for a “big fat Greek wedding,” Pappas told a local newspaper.
The Greek-American bride is currently an account supervisor at Love Communications in Salt Lake City. She joined the company on a full-time basis after interning in early 2007. Pappas handles projects both large and small in the agency’s health and human services arena, including overseeing varied campaigns for breast and colon cancer awareness. She’s also worked on their United Way of Salt Lake and Tobacco Prevention and Control Program accounts, among many others.
Beckerman and team USA are still in the running to advance in the World Cup, so he’ll be spending a little more time away from his new bride. The midfielder, who sports number 15 and is known for his signature dreadlocks, is gearing up with his teammates to take on Germany this week.
