Greece was faced with another scoreless draw in a friendly game against Nigeria at the PLL park stadium in Philadelphia on June 3. The game was a warm up for the two national teams, a few days before they depart for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Greece scored another draw against Portugal on May 31.
The match did not offer much spectacle as both coaches were careful not to overuse their players, fearing a possible injury a few days before the World Cup starts.
Before the game that attracted thousands of Greek-Americans, Greek singer Kalomoira sang the National Anthem of Greece:
The starting teams were as follows:
Coach: Fernando Santos (POR)
Efe Emuobo Ambrose
Kenneth Josiah Omeruo
Uwa Elderson Echiéjilé
Ogenyi Eddy Onazi
John Obi Mikel
Peter Osaze Odemwingie
Coach: Stephen Keshi (NGA)
