FBI Seeks Victims of Suspected Child Molester in Greece

william-james-vahey-6jpgThe U.S. FBI is looking for victims of a pedophile teacher in schools around the world, including one in Athens.

The alleged suspect’s name is William James Vahey and he was working for about four decades in various American schools around the world. At the moment, the FBI is trying to determine the exact number of children he molested.

In Athens, he used to work at the American Community School, during the period 1978-1980 and the U.S. agency has requested that anyone who has relevant information, should contact the U.S. Embassy.

Vahey committed suicide last month in Minnesota, when a judge in Houston gave approval to the authorities to investigate one of his hard drives which contained images of sexual assault on children, reported CNN. Images of at least 90 victims, aged 12 to 14 were found from 2008. The boys in the photos appear to be asleep or unconscious and the accused had even labeled the pictures with dates and cities where they were taken.

He is one of the most active pedophiles we’ve ever encountered,” said an FBI agent on the case. Vahey began teaching in private schools in 1972 and was still working this March, two days before his suicide. The case was brought to the authorities when the man fired his housekeeper accusing her of stealing. Last month she took Vahey’s hard drive disk to the school where he worked and found that it contained photos of children.

When the FBI questioned him, he admitted that he had molested many young boys throughout his life. Apart from Athens, had also worked in Nicaragua, Britain, Venezuela, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Spain and Lebanon.
