Greek Embassy of Washington Awards Certificates of Attainment in Greek Language

The annual ceremony awarding Certificates of Attainment in modern Greek was held yesterday at the Greek Embassy in Washington.

Attending the event were many Greek expatriates, children, teachers and members of Greek-Orthodox communities.

The coordinator of Education in New York, Eleni Karageorgiou presented the Certificates of Attainment in Greek to those who succeeded in the examinations. The percentage of those who succeeded in the examinations reached 86 percent.

Greece’s ambassador in Washington, Christos Panagopoulos, congratulated the students, the parents and the teachers for trying so hard the past year. In addition, he encouraged them to intensify their efforts in order to be able to speak and write in the Greek language.

The key-note speaker of the event was the headmaster of the Greek school in the region of Potomac, Myrophora Frantzi. In her speech, she gave emphasis to the value and the lexical wealth of the Greek language.
