The successful writing duo, from Greece, Michalis Reppas and Thanasis Papathanasiou are known for their comedy “The In-laws from Tirana.” Now, they strike again with their new comedy entitled “Raus! Get Outta Here!” which is supposed to be even funnier than the last one. The comedy that satirizes the social and financial corruption in Greece has been running for two consecutive years in Athens with sellout success.

Next month, from November 1-30, Eclipses Group Theater presents the U.S premier of “Raus! Get Outta Here!” at the Stathakeion Cultural Center, 22-51 29th St. in Astoria. Ioanna Katsarou who directed “The In-laws From Tirana” is also directing this successful comedy. The play will be performed in Greek with English subtitles.

In the story, an unexpected heritage brings together six wildly different characters: an official of the Ministry of Transportation, his wife — a pharmacist, a nurse, two prostitutes and their flamboyant brothel assistant. They all conspire to get a grant from the European Union by establishing a fake cultural organization. But what happens when a German commissioner suddenly shows up to check on their legitimacy? And when an unexpected visitor threatens to reveal their scam?

Eclipses Group Theater NY is a New York City-based nonprofit theater company, promoting an exploratory approach of the Greek world as well as classic and modern plays in order to present them to its American audience.
