The Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, U.S. Representative Ed Royce (R), in an exclusive interview with Greek Reporter talked about Syria, supporting Greece and Cyprus on their attempt to monetize their gas and oil reserves and said that the Mediterranean cannot be treated like a “Turkish lake” by the Turkish government.

We met the Chairman of House of Foreign affairs committee at a fundraiser which was organized by the Vlahakis family at their residence in Huntington beach, CA.

“Ed Royce is a great supporter of Greece and Hellenic issues this is why we wanted to support him,” said Earth Friendly Products Vice President Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks who was also a host at the event. Royce is a big supporter of Greece and during our interview he pointed out that the USA needs to back the Mediterranean country even more. “America’s foundation lies in Greece, and we have to show our to the country” said Royce.

On how the two countries can collaborate, Royce suggested trade and investments and noted that more Americans should have Greece on their business map.

On Syria, he said that, “We need to get the gas out of the country because it is a threat to all of the world if it falls in the wrong hands.” He also urged his colleagues to consult with the Greek government, which has close ties to the region.

Speaking about how the new immigration reform may allow Greeks – among others – to come to work in the U.S., he noted that Greeks will have a good shot given that they have good education and skills.
