Greek-American Chocolatier Enters Cosco with Snappers

Snappers Packaging FRONTCostco just got a whole lot sweeter thanks to a Greek-owned business.

The Milk Shake Factory by Edward Marc Chocolatier announced its official launch in Costco stores in mid-April 2013, introducing a brand new product called Snappers. Snappers are described as a crunchy, salty and sweet snack wrapped up in one bite!

“Made with crisp pretzels, creamy caramel and rich milk chocolate, Snappers are a gourmet treat everyone will love, both young and old,” the maker says.

Arriving in 31 mid-Atlantic Costco stores, Snappers are the first product from The Milk Shake Factory to reach consumers outside of their retail location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Chris Edwards, Chief Marketing and Development Officer of The Milk Shake Factory said, “As a small family-run business, having the opportunity to work with Costco, one of the largest retailers in the country, is an incredible honor. It gives us the ability to expand and grow The Milk Shake Factory brand nationwide, beyond having one retail store located in Pittsburgh’s South Side. It is an opportunity that we have always dreamed of pursuing, and now we are thrilled to bring Snappers to Costco Warehouses across the Northeast.”

Inspired by their favorite chocolate confections, Chocolate Turtles, siblings, Chris, Dana and Mark Edwards, put their own spin on the classic caramel, chocolate and pecan delight, by removing the pecans and adding pretzels to create a crisp crunch that complements the soft caramel and irresistible milk chocolate.

The story of the Milkshake Factory starts in 1914, when a young Greek couple set off from their native land of Greece to pursue the dream of a new life in America. Charlie and Yiayia Cookie settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and made a life together relying on a skill they carried with them from the family kitchen – handcrafted chocolates and ice cream. They founded a small soda fountain in Pittsburgh’s Victorian district to produce and sell their handmade chocolates and milkshakes. To carry on this family tradition, their grandchildren created their own spin on the old-fashioned ice cream soda fountain. Today, The Milk Shake Factory conjures memories of a bygone era. Offering 55 flavors of milkshakes, specialty dessert drinks, and an array of gourmet chocolates using the finest ingredients. Just as their great-grandparents pursued their dream in America, Chris, Dana and Mark Edwards proudly continue to handcraft the highest quality sweets available anywhere.
