Greek-American Cyclist Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

A 41-year-old Greek expatriate, Alexandros Motsenigos, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bike in his neighborhood in the affluent town of Wellesley, Massachusetts by a hit-and-run driver on Aug. 24, police said.

Police said they had two people and were seeking witnesses. Police said in a statement that officials located the vehicle and its “apparent operator” after reviewing traffic camera footage of the crash, but no arrests had been made.

“We are still hoping there may be other witnesses out there that may have seen the crash and we appreciate all of the help the media is giving us with trying to encourage these potential witnesses to come forward,” Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary said.

Motsenigos was born in Greece and immigrated to the U.S. in 1986. He was a Program Vice President for IDC’S Global Services markets and Trends. He was married and the father of a 6-year old child. “We are so deeply moved by the outpouring of support from friends, family and community,” the family statement read.

“We are also heartened by the swift actions of the Wellesley PD and have full confidence in their competence. We seek to grieve through celebration of Alex’s life but also through a full understanding of the events surrounding his death. Please, if you know anything that will aid the investigation, come forward,” they asked.
