Greek Spirit at Portsmouth Festival

The 36th Portsmouth Greek Festival organized by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church took place on July 13-15 with great success.

The three-day festival included a gastronomic as well cultural trip to Greece. DJ Meleti provided music all weekend round, while ‘Orfeas’ performed live on Friday and Saturday at 7pm.

Greek school students also presented traditional Greek dances which everyone enjoyed.

But after so much Greek ‘glenti’ and dances, everyone had a chance to indulge themselves in Greek cuisine! Lamb and chicken souvlaki, pastichio, delicious spanakopita and dolmathakia are only some of the dishes offered to to the participants. And loukoumathes, baklava or amygdalota made the menu even more irresistible.

Thousands of attendants left the area full of food and Greek spirit, and promised to take part in the Greek festival of Portsmouth the following year as well, whether as a volunteer, sponsor, performer or visitor.
