Greek Music Nights at Athens Square Park in NY

Since 1986, annual Greek cultural events taking place at the Athens Square Park in New York attract many visitors. This year is no exception since “Greek Nights” organized by administration committee of the Athens Square Park and the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York have already started.

The Greek festival will continue until early September, and many Greek-Americans are expected to attend.

This Square has its own history as well.  It was created in 1982 as a result of Dennis Syntilas and the rest of the founding members’ tireless efforts. Philhellene Peter Vallone, former president of the New York City Council, has also contributed to building this Greek Square Park.

Sculptures of the ancient Greek goddess Athena and busts of philosophers Socrates and Aristotle can be found all along the park.
