Beloved Community Member Steve Pesiridis Dies at 49

Pontian Community of Boston mourns for its distinguished member Steve Pesiridis, who died at the age of 49 due to heart disease.

Pesiridis was an active member of the Greek Community in Massachussets. He was a keen musician of Pontian lyre and President of the Pontian Society of Boston.

The late Greek musician is survived by his wife and three children.

He was Greek but was born in Boston. His parents, who came from Florina, migrated to the US and always reminded him of his Greek roots. Perisidis owned a pizzeria and a breakfast restaurant.

His intimate friend and close colleague John Apatzidis said, “We’ve known each other for 31 years. I can’t believe what has happened.”

“Steve was a kind-hearted man, whose house was always open to everyone,” continued Apatzidis. The two men founded the Pontian band “New Generation” and toured around the States, entertaining Greeks with their Pontian lyre.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 10 at the Forest Hills Cemetery. It is expected that many will attend to honor their good friend.
