Pantelis Sgouros, Former President of US Chian Federation, Passes Away

Pantelis Sgouros, former President and founding member of the Chian Federation, died last Saturday at the age of 75.

“We are devastated because a perfect human-being left us. He was the bond among the Federation’s members,” stated the current President of the Chian Federation Vangelis Kavvadas.

“He was so uniting a personality. No one would ever dare to provoke tension when he was present,” he continued.

Sgouros was born in Kallimasia village, Chios, in 1937. He was a well-educated man, having graduated from New York City College as an engineer, and from both New York Polytechnic Institute and George Washington University as a master’s student.

Sgouros also worked for the famous McDonnell Douglas Corporation as director in one of the company’s branches.

As a Chian Greek-American, he was actively involved with several Greek associations of America, including the Chian Federation and the Kallimasia Society “Agios Emilianos.”
