Yanni is a Greek New Age composer and pianist who has performed all around the world over the past years. Now, he is touring all over the USA accompanied by a 12-musician group to present his new CD “An Evening with Yanni.” Yanni will be very busy this summer, since he plans to visit 80 North American cities, including Miami, Chicago, Toronto and Atlanta.
His debut came after his first CD released in 1994 “Yanni Live at the Acropolis.” After this, followed decades more CDs and performances in every continent of the world. He has performed at the Acropolis in Greece, the Taj Mahal in India and the Forbidden City in Beijing, China.
His artistic career includes performances at the world’s highest building, Burj Khalifa located in Dubai, and at the Olympic Games in China, having six-to-eight screens capturing the stage show for the audience.
His next stop is Grand Rapids, Michigan, in a small venue. But Yanni admits he feels more comfortable in smaller halls. “You can touch the audience,” he says. “It’s like you’re here in your living room all of a sudden with a bunch of your friends and you’re talking to them.”
In regards to his worldwide performances, he comments that “one of the nicest things about my career has been that it has allowed me the opportunity to travel all over the world and go into places where most people wouldn’t be able to get in.” “It opens your mind. The lessons are myriad when you come in contact with so many cultures.”
In 2011, Yanni was declared the No. 1 “New Age Album Artist” of the year.
