Former Gov. Michael Dukakis and his wife, Kitty Dukakis, will be the keynote speakers at a program, “Everyday Heroes: The Power of Truth, Knowledge, and History” on May 2 at Kehillah Schechter Academy in Norwood.

The program, including the keynote speeches, will focus on historic Greek and Jewish relations and the relationship between the two groups in Greece. It is being hosted by the academy’s Israel Arbeiter Gallery.

Michael Dukakis was born to Greek immigrants and is a Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Northeastern University and a Visiting Professor of Public Policy at University of California, Los Angeles. Kitty Dukakis served on the U.S. Commission on the Holocaust and was a founding member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

In addition to the governor, the evening will include a presentation by filmmaker Laura Zelle who will show her documentary, “In the Shadow of the Acropolis,” which traces the Greek Jewish community during World War II.
The program is open to all area residents and will start May 2 at 7pm in the Israel Arbeiter Gallery at Kehillah Schechter Academy, 1 Commerce Way.
