11 Greek Companies Enter Forbes ‘Global 2000 Leading Companies’ List

This year’s Forbes list of Global 2000 leading companies features 11 Greek companies based on the latest data concerning their sales, profits, market value and assets.

The US magazine ranked the National Bank of Greece at number 788 on its list, followed by the Public Power Corporation (1000), Coca Cola HBC (1223), EFG Eurobank Ergasias (1257), Alpha Bank (1354), Bank of Greece (1500), Piraeus Bank (1514), OPAP (1574), Hellenic Petroleum (1669), ATE Bank (1740) and OTE Hellenic Telecom (1892).

According to Forbes’ website, it came as no surprise that US companies covered most of the top places of the list given the economic crisis plaguing the euro zone. Moreover, despite the growing presence of China in the international markets over the past few years, the list did not feature many Chinese companies in its first rankings.

US oil and gas producer Exxon Mobil topped the Forbes list, displacing last year’s leader JP Morgan Chase, while Apple was the company recording the biggest increase in profits moving up from 47th place to 22nd.
