A lengthy journey on a road fraught with obstacles, and some fierce opposition, should soon come to an end as construction proceeds on schedule on a much-heralded expansion to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons in Shinnecock Hills.
Construction has been ongoing since last spring and despite years of roadblocks, including lawsuits filed by neighbors who oppose the project, work is proceeding on the $10 million project.
The work includes the construction of a new sanctuary, cultural center and community center on the church’s grounds to accommodate a growing congregation.
