Priest and Greek Festival Starter George Papadeus Dies

Father George Papadeus, the first priest ordained by the Greek Orthodox Church in America, has died at age 93.

Late Papadeus was the first to help organize the Greek Festival in Daytona Beach. He had retired from St. Demetrios Church in Daytona Beach in 1983, and died last Friday night at Halifax Health Medical Center, Port Orange, according to Norman Black of Haigh-Black Funeral Home in Ormond Beach.
