Last Friday, Stella Kokoli, President of the Hellenic-American Educators Federation, paid an informative visit to the Greek orientated charter schools of Florida, USA, “Athenian Academy” in Duniden and “Plato Academy” in Clearwater.
Given the chance of the commencement of the new school year, Mrs. Kokoli expressed her best wishes to the Greek teachers and congratulated them on their national work and commitment.
During her first visit at the “Athenian Academy”, Mrs. Kokoli accompanied Mr. Terry Tsafatinos, prominent Community member, founding member of the two charter schools, former president of the American-Canadian Panlaconian Society and nowadays president of the Laconian Society of West Florida. Present was also Mrs. Nora Michalopoulou, president of the local Epirotic Society.
Mrs. Kathy Manrique, principal of the Academy, informed Mrs. Kokoli on the students’ number and the courses they take. The “Athenian Academy” has this year 225 children following classes between kindergarten and 8th grade.
The Academy works with 25 teachers in total and 5 out of them are detached abroad from Greece.
