Evangelos Venizelos Visits Washington D.C

The vice president of the Hellenic government and Minister of Economics, Evangelos Venizelos is going to attend important meetings in Washington on Monday, 25, July. The diplomatic circles of the American capital have been expecting Venizelos after the recent European agreements. Mr. Venizelos arrived on Sunday afternoon, 24, July and met with members of the government, the Congress, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and he is also expecting to give lectures and interviews in institutes and through the American Media.
The Minister of Economics will also meet with his American counterpart Timothy Geithner and the managing director of IMF, Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), Charles Dallara, as well as with members of Congress, more specifically with the senator Tim Johnson, chairman of the Congressional Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and John Kerry, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations. Mr. Venizelos also gave a speech on Sunday evening at the Peterson Institute for International Economics on the topic “Greek crisis: challenges and opportunities.”
