Billionaire heiress, Andrea Catsimatidis and President Richard Nixon’s grandson, Christopher Nixon Cox, exchanged their wedding vows at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Saturday, June 4.
Mrs. Cox, 21, who has one more semester to go at NYU, is the daughter of Greek – American John Catsimatidis, chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group, Gristides Foods, and the Red Apple Group subsidiary, United Refining Company. Mr. Catsimatidis, a supermarket mogul and his wife, Margo, are well-known philanthropists and political donors, who have contributed to both Republican and Democratic candidates and office holders across the country.
Mr. Cox, 32, is the son of Patricia Nixon Cox and New York State Republican Chairman Ed Cox. The glamorous wedding took place almost 40 years to the day after the groom’s parents were married at a nationally celebrated White House Rose Garden ceremony.
Following the wedding ceremony, a lavish reception for more than 700 guests was held in the Grand Ballroom of New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, featuring luminaries from across the nation, such as Julie Nixon Eisenhower, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.
Mr. Cox, an attorney, was a Republican candidate for Congress in New York’s First Congressional District in 2010. Mrs. Cox is president of the New York University Republican Club. Both are active in New York civic and philanthropic endeavors.
The bride’s dazzling dress was designed by internationally known, Reem Acra, a red-carpet Lebanese fashion designer. While the groom was outfitted by Tom Ford, the successful clothes designer and film director. Flowers were created by award-winning event designer Preston Bailey. The couple will spend their honeymoon in Hawaii and California and will reside in New York.
