Dancer & Choreographer, Takis Varlamos Passes Away

Dancer and choreographer, Takis Varlamos, famous for his great work during the 50’s and 60’s, and partner of Maria de Petrilio both on stage and life (divorced some years ago), passed away at the age of 81 in Boston, where he has lived for many years.

He began his career at the National Opera of Greece (Ethniki Liriki Skini) in 1947, and studied in Milan and Barcelona. In Genova,  he choreographed ”Karmen”, ”Nabuko” and ”The Marriage of Figaro”. He later made a tour of Europe and America, together with his wife and dancing partner at that time, Maria de Petrilio. Apart from theatrical revues (”Beethoven kai Mpouzouki”, ”Omonoia plats-plouts”, etc.) he danced and sometimes acted in movies such as ”To Klotsoskoufi” directed by Sakellarios and ”Na Zi Kaneis h na Mhn Zi” by Orestis Laskos, among others .
