"The Persians" Performance by Aeschylus in New York

The Hellenic Cultural Center in New York in collaboration with the Theatrical Group “Eklipsis”, is feverishly preparing for a new performance.  It is an experiment based on “The Persians” by Aeschylus, called “The π-Project”.

The original poetic text of Aeschylus, except some points, is maintained and the Greek letter “π” stands for the Greek word for The Persians “ΠΕΡΣΕΣ”. It is called project as it was created on an experimental basis beyond the classic way of performing.

It is remarkable that all characters are played by two actors.

The text will be rendered into ancient Greek, modern Greek and English. The method of hyper titles will help people fully understand, not only the meaning of the language, but also the action itself.

“The π-Project” will be staged at the Hellenic Cultural Center for only 9 performances from the 6th of May and then at the International Theatre Festival in Montreal, Canada.
