The Only Greek at Fairbanks, Alaska

Charalampos Nikolaides is the only Greek at Fairbanks, Alaska, a city that’s considered one of the hardest to live in at this remote US state. The temperature reaches a – 38 Celcius during the winter.
So, what is a Greek doing at a place like that? Good guess, he owns an eatery. ‘Babi’s Restorant’ is a place with an all Greek style and Greek music that you can hear even from the the street, he’s installed special speakers for that.
Nikolaides was born in Germany and grew up in a towne in Greece (Larisa). At 13 his parents took him to the US. For the last 10 years he has been living in Fairbanks, a city that has supported him in many ways according to his words. In return he makes Greek cuisine and music popular at the end of the world.
