Choreographer Ann Reinking Headlines Benefit for Thodos Dance Chicago

Tony Award-winning dancer and choreographer Ann Reinking was in Chicago on February 5, for a special benefit for Thodos Dance Chicago. “The White City Winter Benefit” celebrated the 19th anniversary season of the acclaimed Chicago dance group. The evening featured a sneak preview of the world premiere collaboration between Reinking and the group’s founder, Melissa Thodos.

The work, entitled, “The White City: Chicago’s Columbian Exposition of 1893,” will be performed throughout the Chicago area in the coming weeks. The critically acclaimed Thodos Dance Chicago was founded by dancer and choreographer Melissa Thodos, with the “highly unique mission inspiring expression through dance education, dance creation and dance performance.” Thodos Dance Chicago has become an innovative presence in American contemporary dance.

Thodos has previously collaborated with Reinking, who is best known as a Broadway actress and dancer, though mainstream audiences will recall her performance in the 1979 film, “All the Jazz,” which was loosely based on her life with the legendary Bob Fosse. Thodos has also collaborated with other well-known choreographers, such as Ron de Jesus, Lar Lubovitch and others.
