CYPRECO presents "Cyprus in The Silk Routes"

CYPRECO of America, Inc., will present from its celebrated series, “Cyprus Its History and Culture Through the Ages”, a screening of the original documentary “CYPRUS IN THE SILK ROUTES”. The documentary which is rare in content, examines and showcases the history of silk making and weaving in Cyprus, a very unique craft that was once thriving on the island. It is supported with English narration and subtitles when Greek is spoken, interviews with traditional crafts people and traders – some from the last generations – as they revive scenes from the Cypriot folk life. Established five years ago, the series, “Cyprus Its History and Culture Through the Ages”, highlights and revives very unique aspects of the rich history, culture and folklore of Cyprus through special oral presentations, lectures, poetry and screenings of highly acclaimed original documentaries. Recent programs presented from the series include, “Salamis, The Ancient City of Teucer of Telamon” (June, 2010), “Hidden In The Sand – The Sad Story of Famagusta” (Feb. 2010).

CYPRECO of America, Inc., with a vibrant presence in the cultural scene of New York that spans for over 30 years, is a non-profit and tax-exempt cultural organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich heritage, folklore, history and culture of Cyprus and Greece in America. It services, G/Cypriot Americans, G/Americans of all generations/ages and the general public of ethnic backgrounds/ages with a variety of cultural programs annually which in their majority are offered for free as a public service.
