Acclaimed Kokkari Estiatorio Publishes Contemporary Greek Cookbook!

San Francisco’s upscale Kokkari Estiatorio has just released a cookbook coined: “Kokkari Contemporary Greek Flavors”, by head chef Erik Cosselmon and author Janet Fletcher, in collaboration with its owners.   The cookbook contains the successful Greek restaurant’s signature dishes that are Hellenic in tradition with a unique Californian twist.  The fine dining restaurant, situated in the heart of the city’s Financial District, has been a hit since its establishment over ten years ago.  It has consistently ranked within the top ten Bay area restaurants in Zagat’s acclaimed restaurant rating guide each year. Kokkari Estiatorio is named after a small fishing village on the beautiful island of Samos.

“Kokkari Contemporary Greek Flavors” offers delicious recipes that encompass Greek cuisine with fresh California ingredients.  It includes the restaurant’s most popular entrée, “Arnisia Paidakia” or “Grilled Lamb Chops with Kokkari Dressing”.   Kokkari’s delicious dressing is easy to make and adds a kick to many plates.  It is drizzled on everything that comes off the restaurant’s grill or spit, including dry-aged rib-eye steak, chicken, lamb, whole fish, shell fish and even grilled vegetables.

Along with well known Greek dishes, “Kokkari Contemporary Greek Flavors” offers modern recipes.  Its rare “Portokalosalata” or “Oranges with Rose Water, Cinnamon, Dates & Spiced Walnuts” is a refreshing and creative appetizer whose ingredients are historically Greek.   A tasty alternative to traditional baklava is the cookbook’s “Pagoto Baklava” or “Baklava Ice Cream” recipe.  On a whim, Kokkari Estiatorio’s pastry chef creatively folded some of the crunchy trim into homemade vanilla ice cream and created a delicacy.

The two-hundred-and-twenty-four page cookbook offers an array of appetizers, salads, soups, main courses, vegetables, side dishes, breads and desserts recipes sure to please any palate.  It also includes many stunning images of its cuisine, interior and Greece.

Now the Mediterranean flavors of Kokkari Estiatorio are available for all to enjoy! The dining establishment is located at 200 Jackson Street, San Francisco, California.  “Kokkari Contemporary Greek Flavors” is available via email at: kokkari@kokkari.com or at Kokkari Estiatorio.  For more information on Kokkari Estiatorio or its sister restaurant Evvia Estiatorio in Palo Alto, CA please visit: www.kokkari.com and www.evvia.net.
