Delegates of the 70th National Congress of the Arcadian Federation of America in New York are facing an ethnicity issue. They want to maintain the Greek element of the city which was founded eighty years ago by the Federation of Arcade immigrants who at that time, were members of the local club “Old Man of Moria”.
Arcadian Greeks in the United States are more than the current population of Arcadia. The migration of the Arcadians to America began in the mid 19th century. Ever since the Arcadians of America had been trying to keep their heritage intact with all the elements that represent their linguistic and cultural identity. Many people attended the conference. During the banquet the federation was honored with the “Theodoros Kolokotronis” award by Archbishop Demetrios of America.
