Conde Nast Traveler Magazine Awards Mykonos as Best European Island of the Year!

The beautiful Greek island of Mykonos was voted the Best European Island of the Year by the readers of the magazine Conde’ Nast Traveler.  The magazine is an American publication and awarded Mykonos with the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award.

Mykonos has once again surpassed all of the Mediterranean islands and the islands of Southern Europe in its category: Best European Island, with a total overall rating of 78.0.  Other islands in this category were Ibiza, Capri, Madera, and Majorca.

“We feel vindicated that our island was preferred by the American tourists.  To us, this means that our efforts are going in the right direction and it pleases us to have the recognition of the thousands of readers of this prestigious travel magazine,” states the Mayor of Mykonos Athanasios Kousathanas in his acceptance speech.

Greek hotels also received high rating by the magazine in the category of Best European Resort.  Specifically in the top 20, were Mykonos Grand Hotel Resort and Elounda Mare which were in the 15th and 17th place respectively.

The awards ceremony took place in New York on October 12th at the IAC building.  Many popular actors and TV presenters were present, such as Matt Dillon, Marcia Gey Harden, Kate Rutherford, Kerry Washington, and Penn Badgley.
