President Obama said that the U.S. and Cyprus are linked by a long history of friendship, common ideals, and the great contribution of Americans of Cypriot descent on the progress of the U.S. He continued to say that this year also completed 50 years of diplomatic relations between America and Cyprus. Obama noted that the U.S. looked forward to deepening and strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in many areas of common interest. He hopes for future security and prosperity. The President welcomes the determined efforts to achieve an ample settlement to the Cyprus problem and expressed the belief that it is a feasible solution that meets the expectations of the communities.
