The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (www.SNF.org), an international philanthropic organization founded by Stavros Niarchos, makes grants in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and medicine, and social welfare. While prominent in its support of Greek-related initiatives, the Foundation’s activities are worldwide in scope. Since the beginning of its grant making efforts in 1996, the Foundation has provided total grant commitments of Euro €861,000,000 ($1,165,000,000) through more than 1,800 grants to nonprofit organizations in ninety nations around the world.
During the 75th Annual Cathedral Gala of the Holy Trinity, representing the Cathedral’s major annual fundraiser, held in a Manhattan restaurant, the new sponsorship of the institution was announced, for the amount of 750.000 USD allocated for the operation of the community school.
“We should not take the Greek language as something given. If we don’t use it, we will lose it”, stressed the Co-President & Member of the Board of Directors of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Mr. Andreas Drakopoulos during the gala, which was also honored by the foundation.
