The presentation of the Homer Prize will take place during a festive event on Saturday, November 13, at the Chios House in Astoria, New York, in the presence of expatriate Greeks organisations, the archbishop and the diplomatic corps of Greece and Cyprus.
The decision was taken by the Homer Prize committee – which, headed by former president Alexandros Doulis, is responsible for the entire organisation process – and was unanimously accepted by the general assembly of the Chios Federation. “Philip Christopher is a leader who always fights at the front line for the rights of Cyprus, as well as all of Greece”, said the president of the Chios Federation of America, Evangelos Kavvadas, announcing – during a press conference last Tuesday at the Chios House – the name of this year’s recipient of the prize.
