Greek Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dimitris Droutsas’ trip to the United States

demetris_droutsasIt has been reported that Dimitris Droutsas, deputy prime minister of foreign affairs will arrive in the United States to meet with U.S. minister of foreign affairs, Hillary Clinton at the US State department during the first weeks of February. In addition, he is expecting a visit in March from Greek Prime Minister, George Papadreou in Washington. It is likely that the Droutsa’s visit will include the celebration of Greek independence that he will honor along with members of the diaspora and President Obama at the White House.
Mr. Droutsas has also planned to meet with Deputy Secretary of State, James Steinberg during his visit.
Inside information claims that Droutsas may be promoted to Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position that is currently held by the Prime Minister. In reference to this he will meet with Turkish Minister, Ahmet Ntavoutoglou this Saturday in Istanbul. When asked, Droutsas could not confirm this information.
