Greek Immigrant Serves Free Thanksgiving Dinner At Restaurant

A Greek immigrant family has resumed a quarter-century tradition by hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner at its restaurant near Cleveland.
Michael’s Family Restaurant (Michael Petrakis, and his wife Anna) in Rocky River prepared 2,500 pounds of turkey Thursday for the annual crowd that often tops 1,000 people. The Petrakis family invited regular customers, the homeless, jobless and seniors to show gratitude for their opportunities in America.
The restaurant served free dinners for 25 years but skipped last year because the owner traveled to see his dying mother in Crete.
At other holiday meals, St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Cleveland prepared 6,000 meals to be served at eight locations, with another 6,000 delivered by volunteers. In Cincinnati, Our Daily Bread in Cincinnati offered a sit-down dinner with enough food to serve more than 500.
