Greek America Magazine’s first Gabby Awards were announced in Chicago on March 1st. Last night the Greek America team organized another launch party at the John Varvatos Soho Boutique with some of the “best and brightest” Greek Americans in New York. As stated in the official “Gabby” website of “the awards were founded to celebrate excellence amongst Greek Americans and to reward those who embody it.”
The Gabby Awards are the first—and only—awards for Greek Americans whose winners are decided by the people who comprise the community itself. Members of The Gabby Academy voted in a secret ballot for three individuals in each category. The results were tabulated and the top five vote-getters became 2009 Gabby Award Nominees. Now it is your turn to vote and determine the winners at gabbyawards.com
The Gabby Awards will be presented on June 19th in the historic Merle Reskin Theater, on Balbo Street, which is right off Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s historic South Loop neighborhood just off Grant Park.
