In times of economic hardship even the very rich feel the pain. Forbes list with the world’s billionaires includes 793 people this year while last year included 1125 persons. The richest man in the world is Bill Gates followed by Warren Buffett. Michael Jaharis, George Mitchell, Mike Lazarides, John Catsimatides, George Argyros and Alexander Spanos are the only billionaires of Greek descent, while the only Greek citizen of the list is Spiro Latsis. The significant lost of wealth left many rich outside the list, among them the Greek-American chief executive officer of Calamos Asset Management, John Calamos which lost 1.3 billion in shares last year according to chicagobusiness.com.
